*****April 2011*****

30th Apr 2011: The end of the month has arrived, with some good stats to end with. A total of 34 catches for the month, with 2 members having 12 fish between them in around 48 hours, with a 19lb average weight. 9 of them on iCarp Frankfurter, with the other 3 on yum yum seafruit. robin red shows the way! With May's usual boost in catches, we could be in for a bumper catch rate this year.

23rd Apr 2011: The heatwave just keeps on improving! just shy of 30c today, with the water temp of 17.9c and oxygen of 70% things are going to go bump soon! spawning can only be a matter of days away at this rate, good job there are plenty of people about over the next few days to keep an eye out. Sadly, we have lost a fish due to being spawnbound. No sighting over the past couple of weeks to give any indication there was a problem, so it came as even more of a shock to find her floating. We came out of the winter exceptionally well with only 1 fish loss, a rate i felt was achived by the winter aeration and vitamin c feeding program. now with an early heat burst and spawing due it is probably the most stressful time of the year for me!

21st Apr 2011: Easter is upon us! For the last 3 years we have had torential rain, gales and snow, so only right this year completes the set with glorious sunshine! Hopefully a good weekend ahead for the Saunders Family on a private hire, the only reservation i have is that the fish have been grouping up, so a possibility of spawning! Finally seeing the good side of global warming! Anglian Water Hosepipe bans will be in force by the end of April according to Anglia News! Special note to members, the 2 big suprises will happen this weekend! Just waiting for the call....

17th Apr 2011: Group on private hire managed to get 5 doubles on the bank, between 11-17lb. Reasonable going with the current hard conditions. Now a month without rain, water temp is now up to 13c with oxygen between 40-50%, fish grouping up ready for spawning. with weather predictd to be in the low 20's this week we could have our earliest spawning for a long time. Feed with addd vitamin c has continued, hopefully getting as much nutrients into the fish as possible prior to the spawning. will get the siltex underway this week, withthe back section to be completed first, so will keep an eye out to see if it gets all the fish moving into the front section. early signs of the pads, so sprayer will be ready this year to get on top of them!

9th Apr 2011: Last night saw the first people of 2011 on a day ticket (24hr private hire) a group of 3 landing 3 fish to 23lb. (A new PB) weather today superb once again, with fish showing in good numbers in the back section. Had a little spell myself stalking in the new fallen tree, although plenty of fish passing by, none felt the urge to sample some floating crust. never mind, hopefully the few in tonight will bag a few fish.............

4th Apr 2011: With the current reasonable weather there are plenty of fish showing. with the winds turning around to a southerly, most of the fish have been spotted in the front section, a complete turn around to last week! a quick session with the sonar found a real good head of fish sitting on top of one of the feeding spots. hopefully getting a good feed up prior to a mad spawning session. From this week we will be taking regular readings of the oxygen and temperature and at the same time uping the feeding programme.

*****March 2011*****

28th Mar 2011: Good weekend, a few fish out with Member Kevin setting a new PB Common at 27.4lb (Hayes Common). Nice to see the prospective new members over the 2 days, hopefully i will get around to ringing you all tonight. Seen that the weather will be taking a turn from wednesday onmwards, so looks like the siltex will have to wait for a week or so...

23rd Mar 2011: Couple more new named fish photos to go up in the summer house this week, CHUBBS at 29.3oz from last summer & WANDA at 23lb 12oz from the carpology weekend. Also waiting for 2 more name returns, micks mirror from the weekend and a common by keith prior to xmas...

22nd Mar 2011: Crazy day! with the weather looking more like may than march, the fish were up and about in style! from mid morning there was dozens on cruise patrol with numerous fish crashing out, Rhino and johns Linear just 2 of the many putting on a bit of a show. with 18 degrees predicted tomorrow, perhaps another day of showing to be seen... might take the video camera along....

siltex has arrived, will make a start next week......

20th Mar 2011: Not a bad weekend, Keith managed a couple, a 17.3 and Rhino at 26.12, a bit low on weight, but then it has been a long hard winter again. with them feeding well we will see what weight he pops out at in the summer... Mick managed to slip a 22.8 mirror onto the bank last knockings, and it looks like a previously uncaught fish...

16th Mar 2011: Siltex on the way! should be here on friday, with application over the next week or so.

13th Mar 2011: Good result for some of the Carpology boys over the weekend, Harry managed to put 5 on the bank upto 28.12lb, Tommy managed to slip one of last years new little stockies onto the bank, a wood carving mirror at 10lb, up 2lb from stocking last winter. A couple of lads lost a few as well, with a total of 8 fish lost! read about the session on the Carpology Forum

7th Mar 2011: Managed to catch my breath from the hectic "Carpin On Show" weekend. Managed to pop into the lake for a couple of hours this afternoon, spring is starting to show with the weeping willow in bud. 28th Feb 2011: Been busy last couple of weeks for me, so the blog has taken a back seat. Three fish out over the weekend, 16.7, 16.12 & 22.6 Mirrors. Great angling considering the weather. With no improvement predicted this week, it looks like hard times are going to hang around a little longer. we have even had to drop back on the feeding programme due to the low temp.Busy weekend ahead with the Carpin On Show, anyone visiting pop over to our stand for a chat.

10th Feb 2011: signs of movement during feeding today. with water clarity pretty good at present, I was able to see a good few fish moving about whilst out in the boat. Most were infront of the island, where the main pads grow.

7th Feb 2011: Mark's guest on an overnighter slipped a 14lb common onto the bank.Weather is still blowing like mad, hopefully will calm down by the weekend!
